Sensei Martin Reynolds (4th Dan)

Sensei Martin Reynolds

Sensei Martin Reynolds was born in 1964 and spent his early years in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. It was in 1980 that he started his karate training.

His first club was based in Borehamwood under the tutelage of Sensei Dave Henderson and he immediately enjoyed the challenge of the new physical requirements needed along with the technical issues that Kata demanded. During his time with sensei Henderson he enjoyed success in sport karate, winning many events.

From 1988 until 1998 he trained under the much respected Sensei Paul Perry (8th Dan, JinSeiKai association ) as well as enjoying training with the local kickboxing club, where he enjoyed some success in the ring.

Since 1998 he has embarked on additional training trying to further his knowledge of Shotokan karate. He felt that incorrect emphasis within Karate had made some of the moves and concepts unworkable in a self defence environment and disillusioned he sought masters who could help him understand better, Shotokan karate.

Since then he has trained with Sensei Vince Morris, Sensei Iain Abernethy, Sensei Rick Clark, Grand Master George Dillman and most importantly his present instructor; Grand Master Paul Bowman of Zendoryu Karate Association. All of these, not excluding many other Sensei have offered advice and knowledge, have shown the hidden moves and meaning of Karate, along with the hidden art of pressure point fighting.
